idrissaonline.com
Idrissaonline.com is a long time coming. Family, friends and colleagues have been after me to develop an on
line presence for awhile now. I’ve been reluctant to launch a web site for fear of a loss of privacy, I imagine.
Those are probably issues coming from a culture that warned us not to tell our business. I usually own up to my
issues. LOL But the business of writing is just that, telling our business, storytelling and stretching the truth in
order to entertain our readers or to share a message. It’s called using our imagination to tell a story, to paint a
picture and to bring validity to our individual cultures, our pasts and our beings. For me, it is our journey in
America. It is what I know. It is the fabric that makes up the stories that I tell.

I was born a writer it seems, reading books late into the night as a little girl. In the early 1950s there were not a
lot of Negro authors. I was delighted to discover the wonderment of the poetry and prose of Langston Hughes
and Gwendolyn Brooks. Those were the first writers that I discovered who looked like me and wrote stories
about people like me. It was this discovery that convinced me that it was very possible that I could some day
write stories too. It has been something that I have been lead to do for a long time and my muse never really left
me for too long. I’ve finally now figured out where the "heffas hang out"! And now that I have dragged my muse
on home. Let the writing begin! I am working on my debut novel; as well as a collection of short stories. Please
wish me well

Being that this is the home page of my web site... I’d like to invite you to come into my space and make yourself
comfortable. Sip some tea or brew some coffee, come sit a spell with me. I hope you will find Idrissaonline a
place to discover new books and old ones too while sharing my passion for African American literature. Thank
you for your visit. Come back again soon and please sign my guest book so that I know that you stopped by.

Be Blessed,
